The Behavioral Health Manager is responsible for the day-to-day coordination, implementation, and delivery of behavioral health program at Prism Health North Texas (PHNTX). This includes the supervision of program staff and ensuring alignments with agency standard and mission.
Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities of the Job:
- Oversee daily clinical and administrative operations of behavioral health services at PHNTX, ensuring efficient, patient-centered care delivery.
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify service gaps and operational inefficiencies using structured evaluation tools.
- Design and implement standardized workflows, documentation protocols, and training procedures to promote consistency and continuity across behavioral health staff.
- Hire, train, and supervise behavioral health team members, fostering an integrated care model that supports collaboration with medical staff, case managers, peer support, and other departments.
- Coordinate mental health and substance use services, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and short-term care solutions for urgent behavioral health needs.
- Develop and manage referral systems and patient triage processes to efficiently connect clients to appropriate services (e.g., psychiatry, counseling, chemical dependency recovery, STEP program), reducing waitlist times.
- Lead the development and implementation of workflows and compliance monitoring for grant programs such as STEP, including reporting and deliverable tracking.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date patient documentation, including consents and behavioral health screenings, within Athena to maintain compliance and clinical standards.
- Strengthen cross-functional collaboration through participation in team meetings, staff development sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Establish outreach and marketing strategies to promote behavioral health services and expand community partnerships.
- Lead mental health initiatives that promote the resilience, well-being, and overall happiness of both clients and PHNTX staff.
- Provide basic training to frontline staff in crisis response, including suicide and homicide risk protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

- Proven ability to manage clinical staff and program operations.
- Experience providing mental health and/or substance use therapy Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, work independently and as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field, or PhD or PsyD in Psychology from an accredited college or university
- Licensure to provide clinical services in Texas–Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - supervisor status desired but not required, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) – supervisor status desired but not required, or licensed by the appropriate Board as a Clinical Psychologist to practice independently at the highest level possible
- At least 5 years documented experience in progressively responsible positions with management experience in social services or public health in a clinical or social service treatment setting, involving grants management and supervision of staff
