General Description:
The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) organizes events focusing on HIV/STI prevention activities and strategies. The CEC will also facilitate the geographic and demographic expansion of prevention activities, including but not limited to, engaging and collaborating with organizations and individuals outside of Dallas County as well as organizations and events that serve identified priority populations.


Specific Responsibilities:

•Coordinates assigned Project Connect community engagement activities.
•Develops, identifies, and negotiates appropriate agreements to use various sites/venues for testing, condom distribution, and other prevention activities, including sites outside of Dallas County within the Dallas Health Services Delivery Area.
•Develops strategies to engage with priority populations identified by the team.
•Review needs assessment results to determine new areas for testing or prevention services.
•Provides social media content and information to the marketing/social media team related to HIV prevention events and activities.
•Provides requisite data and completes necessary reports.
•Follows protocols regarding timely documentation of each patient encounter and necessary reporting.
•Coordinates services with treatment providers and other internal/external support services. .
•Coordinates planning with other teams to ensure effective and seamless service delivery, prevent duplication of efforts and present a coordinated process to the community and clients.
•Serves on assigned external/internal committees or groups.
•Performs other duties as assigned by program manager or program director.

Skills & Qualifications

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

•Working knowledge of hepatitis, tuberculosis, STI’s and HIV/AIDS.
•Knowledge of HIV risk factors and HIV behavior change strategies
•Knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and intervention resources as they relate to specific priority populations including MSM, transgender persons, and communities of color
•Knowledge of agency HIV and STI testing protocols.
•Cultural awareness and humility and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations including the LGBT community.
•Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
•Working knowledge of utilizing social media.
•Skilled in outreach and assessment techniques
•Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Word software applications including Excel
•Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, set objectives, and meet critical deadlines.
•Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekend hours.
•Dependable transportation and current Texas Driver’s License and active auto liability insurance.

Education and Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in related social service field and supervisor experience. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
•Specialized training required to implement intervention funded by DSHS must be completed within six months of hire.
