General Description:

Reporting to the Vice-President, Legal Affairs and Compliance the Director of Human Resources will manage people programs and processes that impact employee satisfaction and retention. Specific duties include  recruitment, employee relations, investigations, conflict resolution, performance management, AAP/EEO and policy interpretation to contribute to a positive employee culture.

Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Leads HR team to deliver HR services to the organization such as Talent Acquisition, Training and Organizational Development, and HR Information Systems management and reporting.
  • Works with leadership to develop and implement policies and best practices for employee relations, conflict resolution, performance management, compensation strategy, and benefit plan design.
  • Oversees adherence to EEOC, OSHA, Texas Workforce Commission, and other local, state, and federal regulations that impact the workplace.
  • Works directly with employees and supervisors to manage and resolve workplace issues. Manages personal credibility by balancing being an advocate for both employees and for management. but first and foremost for the organization.
  • As a trusted business partner, coaches and mentors leaders on employee relations concerns and HR best practices.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and compliance of Human Resources policies and procedures and education of said policies and procedures through employee handbooks, communications and meetings.
  • Stays current with evolving legal and employment trends and legislation. As such, will be involved with recommending changes to Human Resource policies and procedures
  • Manages the employee exit process determining reasons for employee separations.  Will provide periodic analysis and updates on employee separation data, as well as recommendations to reduce turnover.

Skills & Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent understanding of applicable employment laws.
  • Experience with employee relations, investigations and issue resolution.
  • Builds relationships quickly to act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees.
  • Policy administration and development.
  • General knowledge and understanding of most major HR functions including performance management, leave management, dismissals, policies and procedures, as well as compensation and benefits administration.
  • Keen attention to detail with a passion for providing support to internal and external customers.
  • Great interpersonal, communication and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work professionally with confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Personal leadership style that works effectively with diverse groups and individuals with experience in a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Results-driven, solutions orientated and comfortable in a diverse and collaborative work environment.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Masters preferred.
  • HR Certification such as PHR, SPHR preferred.
  • At least 10 years of professional human resources experience preferably in a healthcare environment with exposure to major HR core competencies or functions.
