They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset. Experience with healthcare, non-profits and grants is useful.
The senior staff accountant supports the CFO and VP Finance in key accounting activities (including the general ledger, financial reporting, budgeting, and grant reporting) and supervises several staff accountants.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general ledger accounting
  • Ensure transactions are reported in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Plan, assign and review staff’s work
  • Cross-train and backup staff accountants
  • Perform financial statement analysis
  • Maintain fixed asset, lease records, and prepaid subscriptions
  • Prepare general ledger program allocations
  • Oversee daily receivables cash application
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Work closely with team to assure smooth month and year end closes
  • Assist with annual audit and grant audit preparation
  • Research GAAP issues, perform other accounting duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned
  • Work with grants; including budgeting, billing, status, and review

Skills & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred
Desired Experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (lookups and pivot tables); proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month and year end closing processes
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • Professional attitude, ability to meet deadlines, accuracy, attention to detail, and solid documentation techniques
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and planning skills
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong financial analysis and account reconciliation skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and to train and manage staff
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • CPA candidate preferred but not required
Language Skills
  • English required; other language skills appreciated
